Climbing's great. Ask any climber. The combination of a physical challenge, stunning locations and a healthy dose of adrenaline is unmatched. Whether you're into Himalayan summits, gritstone boulders, frozen waterfalls or anything in between, there's nothing quite like it.

I'm qualified to teach the basics of climbing and mountaineering - I have an SPA and an ML (See the Mountain Leader Training Board for details of qualifications.

If you want to learn to climb, you can me. I can teach you the basics of rock climbing, hill walking, scrambling and navigation. I don't have any specific courses. Instead, I can tailor one or two day's worth of activities to your needs. The best option is to find a few like-minded people (two or four are ideal numbers for climbing) and book a weekend in the Lake District, Snowdonia or the Peak District. Let me know what you want to do, where you are and how many people want to come, and we can arrange something fun.

I'm intending to put some more stuff about my own climbing here at some stage, but for now there's just a bunch of photos here. New photo here though - a stunning January afternoon on Castle Naze saw me lead the first hard thing I've done in ages on rock. Cheers for the photo Phil. While you're here, have a look at what happens if you don't learn how to jam properly.

A bunch of my mates have climbing-related websites - Offwidth is a handy source of information, and Ben Carpenter's site is good too. There's loads of stuff, including some active forums, at UKClimbing. I post there with the username "garethmorgan".

Most climbers can talk for hours on end about gear. My recommendations for good gear shops are Needlesports in Keswick, Rock and Run in Ambleside, Urban Rock in London and CragX in Sheffield. A handy place for gear reviews is Buachaille.com, where they'll even pay you to write about your kit.
